12,000 charities register for gift aid on line

Since HMRC launched their on line service to claim gift aid in April, more than 12,000 charities have used the service, which is designed to speed up the process for charities and sport clubs.

Tonmoy Kumar, Manager of the Accounts Department of ABDS comments:
“The Online claims will completely replace the old R68i forms which will cease on the 30th September. The new service will mean that payments are paid within three working days, as opposed to 26 days using the old R68i paper claim form.”

Andrew Edwards, HMRC’s Head of Charities, said:
“Using Charities Online to make a repayment claim is quick and easy. We worked extensively with charities to develop the online service in response to their feedback. It is a significant step towards reducing the process for charities to complete their claims.”

If you need any help and advice with Charities or sports clubs, contact Lavinia Newman or Peter Ham now to discuss how ABDS can help bring their experience to these matters.
