Tax review to be undertaken. 20/05/2011

On 9 May 2011, the Government asked the Office of Tax Simplification to carry out a review of the tax administration of small businesses, identifying changes that can be made to simplify and improve the process.
The Exchequer launched the Office of Tax Simplification on 20 July 2010 to provide the Government with independent advice on simplifying the UK tax system. The Chancellor has asked the Office of Tax Simplification to carry out two initial reviews – a review of all tax reliefs, and a review of small business taxation.

Stuart Coleman, Manager of Tax department at ABDS says,
“The provisional recommendations, which are made with a view of simplifying administrative burdens on small business, aims to come up with sensible proposals to issues the OTS see as barriers to small businesses in the UK. “
Stuart goes on to add

“As soon as we know their recommendations we will inform you of the implications.”
