Tax Codes 2011/2012 Added 22/02/2011

New tax codes are just being issued for the new tax year which starts on April 6th 2011. However, not all the notices will be out before March, which could cause problems where codes may need correcting.

The tax office is currently taking 6/8 weeks to deal with these letters, which, if you don’t get yours till the start of March, and its wrong, you’ll have little or no chance to get it amended in time for the new Tax year if you put your request in writing.

Lavinia Newman of ABDS says:

“In a recent statement, the Tax Office said they will accept corrections to Tax Codes on the telephone, but, in our experience, they try to fob you off by saying it has to be in writing: don’t be deterred, refer them to the recent statement and ask for the correction to be made now, but don’t forget to make a note of the name of the person your talking to and the time and date,  or, if you need any help and advice on this or a similar matter don’t hesitate, contact myself, Stuart Coleman or Tonmoy Kumar NOW to discuss how ABDS can help in all your financial planning and business advice.”
